A YEAR IN LESSINIA

For a full year, the Sharks film crew lived and worked in Lessinia. This mountainous region of Verona was chosen not just for its landscape, but because it became part of the film’s very fabric—shaping its writing with its history, traditions, natural wonders, distinctive architecture, the vast open spaces of its high pastures, and the geo-paleontological treasure of its rare and precious fossils. In addition to documenting the shoot, the director listens to the voices of some members of the film’s cast and crew as they reflect on their connection to the land where they’ve worked, while also gathering the stories of many others who have been involved with Lessinia: scholars, artists, local leaders, storytellers, and heads of institutions and associations. The result is a cinematic portrait of a land, seen through the lens of cinema itself.
